Voting Age Reflection

This seminar we did in class about being if your sixteen and can vote was amazing because I actually talked a lot. I thought my participation during the seminar was great because I was more prepared to talked by learning a lot about the article. I made a lot of good points like sixteen year old kids can be mature but some aren't that way too! So this seminar for me was my best seminar by far because when you get into the argument you are so attached to talk more and more. What I need to better is to stop interrupting my classmates when they are talking because it is really rude and they didn't do that to me. Well one point in the article I could agree on was the test you should give to sixteen year old people that are determined and ready to vote only. Some interesting points I found out was when she said that sixteen is the age of adult hood because I think it's not. I say this because adult hood is when you are mature and don't do stupid things like sixteen year old people do now a days.

"The Year of the Youth Vote" Vocabulary

We had to respond to an email talking about the youth vote and mostly Barack Obama. Barack Obama is the main reason why so much of our youth are voting for this election because he is really liberal for the youth. His campaign is mostly for us as U.S citizens and based "We can make a change" and that is including the youth vote. Barack thinks that the youth just have the suffrage to vote because he believes they can make a change and it has been working throughout this election. In the article "The Year of the Youth Vote" it has a graph that shows the inspiration gap. This was for who was more inspirational to all people and it looks like Barack won that series because he is one of the most progressive candidates in this race and with that attitude that is why he is winning the youth vote. Today most of our youth are not that conservative because they want to do what they want to do. Like abortion, our youth is mostly for that because they are young and want to do what they want to do. Now Barack Obama is acting like he is for the youth and they should demand a better country. This election is really close for the democratic side and Barack Obama, the incumbent for the democratic side needs to keep this up by getting more youth involved because the youth is are future. The youth today are just a big coalition and every candidate in this run for president should look for the coalition of young people because they will make a difference in there run for president. Even though I am not a huge fan of Barack Obama because he says he is evangelical but he doesn't mean it, he is still winning the youth vote and I am really impressed in what he doing!

Demorcratic Primary Debate

The few days we been back for our second semester we started off by doing a mock election debate. Democrats vs. Republicans. My group was chosen to be Barrack Obama and we had go against our other candidates Hillary Clinton and Mike Gravel. Each person in there candidates group had to be assigned a topic in the U.S today. You were suppose to get research notes on your topic so it can help you in the election debate. When the elections were over Barrack Obama won on the Democrats side and Mitt Romney won on the Republican side. After all of that was done you had to write your issue paper that talks mostly about your topic and what your other candidates point of views were on your same topic. The elections were really cool to be in because you really feel like your in a real presidential debate. This was a good way to get out what we want to say about the issues we were selected and tell everyone what is going on with these issues. It was really amazing how everyone had something to say and how fourteen year old and older kids can argue on topics that older people argue about. So this election was great and a learning experience!
