Exhibition Night Reflection

Overall, exhibition night was really good for me because I got to show other’s what I’ve been learning this semester and how hard I’ve been working to make my projects as good as they are right now. Everything went really smoothly for my groups and I felt more comfortable when I answered the first questions when all the people came in because I already knew there were going to ask hard questions. The vibe during exhibition night was really good and seeing everyone having fun while keeping it professional. Some of my group’s strengths were answering the questions they asked us very professional and accurate because that was our key to success for exhibition night and also when someone would try to change the subject from our project, we would come back and say more facts about our project. Some of our weaknesses were having food behind us that our mom’s gave us and that wasn’t professional for some parts. But that was our only weakness and I really thought all my groups did really well for exhibition night. The most challenging interaction I had during exhibition night was when my mom comes in and starts talking about something different other than my project and it took me five minutes to take her back to my project because I couldn’t talk about anything else but our projects. So I thought I handled that situation really well because it was my mom so she understood a little bit easier. The only thing I would do differently if I could, it would be not having food behind us when were presenting because it was not professional, but overall I wouldn’t change anything else because I really did well and I’m proud of my group members.

Character Study

What I learned in today’s character's study was that there is more to your character than you might not know. When you are trying to be a character, you have to be the character and be in the zone that you can't just be yourself if someone is holding a gun to your head. You have to go into your character like it was a real conflict happening. What I also learned was that one of my characters has more potential to be someone more exciting after today character study because it opened my eyes that if you try and act a character you made, that is one stage that you learn from. You see the change when you write your character on paper and then actually being them.
Some new elements I will use now to make my characters more complex to the story is to make my character more energetic and my hyped up because before the character study my character Adrian use to be clam to anything. Now I want to make him fiercer when scary stuff pop out or when there is going to be a car crash. When my character is more energetic, he seems more fun to look at and learn more about because he isn't boring and now he can act like a real Nazi in my story! Now my story will be more exciting to read because it is during World War II and there is someone that cares about the Nazi party and will do anything for them, then just being clam about being a Nazi. It will become boring when you had the regular Adrian, but now that my character is fiercer the story will be too!

Story Synopsis

A rainy and sad day in Germany and you can here the lighting from a mile away. A big storm will hit Germany by the end of the day says the radio announcers and TV producers. The birds all flying south to get away from the storm I could see from my window coming out of bed. Well time for another day to work at the factory I said. I really didn’t want to go to work because it was really boring like my grandma! I get in my car and turn on the ignition in a hurry because I will be late for work. The sky is getting greyer as the time passes by and I’m about a few minutes away from my work. All I see on the sides are posters of the war and stupid Adolph Hitler pictures is also on every poster in Germany.
Finally I am at my work and it is raining like crazy now. Right when I get out of my car I see lighting just a few feet away from me hit the ground, so I run now to the door! Laughing my way inside because I thought I was about to die, but my workers cheered me up by saying we are building a nuclear bomb. Being a Nazi isn’t easy because I didn’t like what have been doing in this war, but if say anything bad about my people I’ll get killed! So after I saw what we were doing after a long day, it was time to go home with the ugly storm that is upon Germany. Right when I’m getting off the freeway another car doesn’t see me with the rain and darkness and almost crashes into me. I stop and he does too and I’m about to say words that I shouldn’t be saying, but then I realize it’s my friend. He tells me that the Nazi people are killing innocent Jews now and it’s getting out of control. I say to myself how can I solve this situation of saving Germany and stopping Adolph Hitler ruling? Then it hit me, I said to my friend I can I just help the U.S. defeat our soldiers in this war and stop this madness even though I am a Nazi. My friends tells me that if I am a true Nazi. I said not really because I don’t agree for the things we are doing. It is wrong and I need to help bring peace back to Germany.
I told my friend to follow me to my house to talk about we are going to do about this situation. We arrive at my house and it is really cold outside. So he tells me while he takes off his coat, what are you going to do about this situation and if the other Nazi know what I’m about to do they will kill me. I said I went to work and they told me we are working on a nuclear bomb. So it hit me that if I tell the U.S about this, they can make them one too and I can help because I know what the Nazi are doing to create a nuclear bomb. Your crazy, but brave he told me and I said as long it brings back peace back to this country. I told my work that I’ll be on my vacation, but little do they know I’ll be visiting the U.S and some of the best scientists in New Mexico for a big meeting that I told everyone to go to! When I called all the best scientist about my plan they didn’t trust me, but I told them I don’t agree with anything what us Nazi’s are doing and they all said they will meet me in New Mexico to start on this plan I have created! I am on the plane on my way to the U.S and I’m on the phone with J. Robery Oppenheimr, the other scientist that is helping me with the design for our new nuclear weapon because I going to give him my ideas I saw from our factory and he made new plans for the bomb also. When we get to Los Alamos we will put our ideas together and make the best nuclear bomb in history. When I arrived in New Mexico, a bus had the entire best scientist in the world to Los Alamos, a secret destination only for us to discuss our plans to create the first atomic bomb so this war can end. When we arrived at our first check point, I looked around and said to myself this isn’t like Germany at all. They had Los Alamos on lock down; no one except the scientist can enter. They had park rangers around the mountains because we were surrounded by mountains and all check points had heavily security guards there to protect us for any spies that wanted to know what was going around. We were confident that we will make this happen so I can see peace back to this world and especially stop Japan and Hitler for killing anymore people. So we gathered in this room to talk about what we will do on making this bomb right and secure. We had different jobs like using math to figure out the amount of energy to destroy a whole city and building the outside part of the bomb. So I presented to myself as a Nazi that wants to help the U.S. to victory because its hell back in Germany and I had ideas that we can use that the German’s are using to create a bomb too! So we started as early as we could and I was with Oppenheimr, one of the head physicists in this project including me and we brought all ideas together and drew out what the bomb would look like. After we were done with that I got a phone call from my friend telling me it is getting more dangerous in Germany and more Jews are getting killed in camps. So that pissed me off so badly that I told Oppenheimer we are going to create bomb that will grantee to destroy a whole city.

Persepolis

1. What is the historical context for the story Persepolis? Discuss the entire history of Iran as told in Persepolis.
Our class has just read the book called "Persepolis". This book was mainly about Marjane Satrapi’s young life in Iran. She grew up during the Islamic revolution and a memoir of her growing up to ten through fourteen! Her family is really insecure of what is happening now in there country and they are far from proletariat. Marjane's family lives our getting more closer from being decadent because they have a bad background. In the beginning , Marjane is a eleven and the Islamic revolution starts to evolve. This revolution was really between the people of Iran against Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the King of Iran during 1979. After all the protest of the people of Iran trying to overthrow the shah, in 1980 the King that replaced the shah said that all women have to wear veils for now on at schools and everywhere else. The girls did not like the idea of wearing veils because before the new laws were enforced, women didn't have to wear veils at school and the new law says that boys can't be in the same school as girls. The people who were protesting again to get the King out of there country were called Islamic fundamentalists because they don't like the ideas of what the king is enforcing. Also the new king is killing many citizens that were Islamic fundamentalists because they were going against him. The Iranians that were again protesting because a day before, the new king locked up 400 people in a movie theater and burned it while the people were still inside. So the Iranian fundamentalists didn't want to have this protest from being clandestine because they were
veritably ready to get back at the king. Back in the beginning of the book, there was Black Friday and it was a day of protesting. So much people died during Black Friday because they were trying to overthrow the Shah and most of the protesters were martyrs. The king had a really good secular monarchy going on and a lot of the people in Islam wanted to get rid of the monarchy and hopefully overthrow the king. In 1982 the war got bigger with Iran and Iraq because Saddam had enforced more bombs towards the citizens in Iran. So Iraq used their reservoir missiles to bomb Iran even more than Iran did to Iraq. With Iran trying to defend their country it was really hard because Iraq had better weapons and more power than Iran.
2. What are the experiences Marji endures in the text and how do those experiences shape her perceptions of her family, her country, and herself?
Marji had to wear a veil in the beginning of the book and she didn't want to wear it at all. So I think she gets really mad and this really starts Marji to get more in this fight for there freedom in Iran. Her parents are always going to protest aganist the new king because there isn't anything else to do at home, but Marji can't go because she is to young. I think she got more stronger when she said she can't and seeing her parents fighting for there freedom. So when there was a day when the parents didn't go protest, her and the babysitter went to protest so they can feel how it felt to protest. Even though her parents were mad at her for doing the actions she did, the family stayed strong through the bombings, killings in their family, and they were acting like a strong family that will fight until they get what is right.

3. What do you think happens to Marji when she heads to Vienna? Write the remaining story of her life up unto the time she writes this text in 2002.
When Marji goes ti Vienna I think she will help other country's that have the same problems she had with her life and try to make the people in the country that needs help more easier. But of course she will get back to learning French again and meet new friends that have the same ideas a her. She will always contact her family every week because she wants to know that they are safe. But one of the weeks she has been contacting them, they don't call back. She is a little worried but still has faith that her family is still alive even though the war is still going on. Then she finds out that her family has died because of a roadside bomb out of the house and she is really depressed. She starts to care less to live but she remembers that she was a soul survivor when she was with her family and she starts to say to herself that she can't give up. She needs to continue what her family started and that is to help to secure freedom and stand up for what is right!

Voting Age Reflection

This seminar we did in class about being if your sixteen and can vote was amazing because I actually talked a lot. I thought my participation during the seminar was great because I was more prepared to talked by learning a lot about the article. I made a lot of good points like sixteen year old kids can be mature but some aren't that way too! So this seminar for me was my best seminar by far because when you get into the argument you are so attached to talk more and more. What I need to better is to stop interrupting my classmates when they are talking because it is really rude and they didn't do that to me. Well one point in the article I could agree on was the test you should give to sixteen year old people that are determined and ready to vote only. Some interesting points I found out was when she said that sixteen is the age of adult hood because I think it's not. I say this because adult hood is when you are mature and don't do stupid things like sixteen year old people do now a days.

"The Year of the Youth Vote" Vocabulary

We had to respond to an email talking about the youth vote and mostly Barack Obama. Barack Obama is the main reason why so much of our youth are voting for this election because he is really liberal for the youth. His campaign is mostly for us as U.S citizens and based "We can make a change" and that is including the youth vote. Barack thinks that the youth just have the suffrage to vote because he believes they can make a change and it has been working throughout this election. In the article "The Year of the Youth Vote" it has a graph that shows the inspiration gap. This was for who was more inspirational to all people and it looks like Barack won that series because he is one of the most progressive candidates in this race and with that attitude that is why he is winning the youth vote. Today most of our youth are not that conservative because they want to do what they want to do. Like abortion, our youth is mostly for that because they are young and want to do what they want to do. Now Barack Obama is acting like he is for the youth and they should demand a better country. This election is really close for the democratic side and Barack Obama, the incumbent for the democratic side needs to keep this up by getting more youth involved because the youth is are future. The youth today are just a big coalition and every candidate in this run for president should look for the coalition of young people because they will make a difference in there run for president. Even though I am not a huge fan of Barack Obama because he says he is evangelical but he doesn't mean it, he is still winning the youth vote and I am really impressed in what he doing!
